Short term rental rules in Taiwan
Day letting of ordinary residential units is not licensable in most of the country. Legal short stay generally means a registered homestay or hotel, which is restricted by zone, and enforcement against unlicensed listings is active.
What this does to the numbers
There is no national ceiling here, which means the binding rule is local. That is harder to research and easier to get wrong: the same street can carry two different permit regimes on either side of a city line.
The building can rule the deal out on its own, whatever the city allows. Verify the by laws, the juristic person or the owners association before you sign anything, because that document outranks your underwriting.

Where we look for comparables

Check a real address
This page is the regime. A verdict is the deal. Run an address and the engine prices it in TWD, against sources that actually cover Taiwan, with this regime surfaced next to the number.
This is a summary of the shape of the regime, so an operator knows what to verify. It is not legal advice. Councils, prefectures and building by laws override the national picture constantly, which is exactly why we show these rules rather than silently applying them. Confirm with a local lawyer before you commit.
